Victorian Hartford Silver Plate Pickle Caster w/ Hand Painted Cased Glass (White over Cranberry) Insert & Original Tongs circa 1881-1893. I have bought and sold hundreds of pickle castors over the years and this is by far the BEST I have ever had. It is all original and includes a great cased glass insert that is white over cranberry and a hand painted floral design. The insert measures 11.4 cm high and 9.8 cm wide. The silverplate is by Hartford Silver Co. and includes the base that is 11.5 cm tall and 14.7 cm from handle to handle, the cover which is 9.3 cm across and the tongs that are 17.3 cm long and tipped with claw feet. Overall height with cover on is 20.2 cm. There are a couple of tiny knicks on the insert top where the cover sits on it by they are just small flea bites. This truly is a great victorian piece worthy of any serious collection. Please call with any questions.
